about

First conceived ten years ago but not recorded until I had the sound palette that matched the one in my head from that time.

lyrics

I saw myself in '85
Full of life and full of drive
Young enough to feel alive
I saw myself in '85
Had all the time to create
As they tried to educate
I sat their in a shirt and tie
Watching every cloud go by
Saw so many avenues
Spent half the time trying to choose
I barely knew how to survive
I saw myself in '85

And how the time would slip away
How soon the night would turn to day
And days would wash out with the tide
The hourglass was in my hand
My head was buried in the sand
Inside the days and dreams I'd hide

I saw myself in '92
A slightly older point of view
In a place I hardly knew
And plenty things for me to do
Free to focus on a quest
To work and play and never rest
The visions may have been a stretch
And dreams that were too far to fetch

And how the months would disappear
Overlooked another year
Couldn't see the signs to read
Tried to think outside the box
I never noticed how the clocks
Would slowly seem to pick up speed

I saw myself in '99
Following another sign
Taken down a railway line
Working on a new design
Looking for an avenue
I lost myself and what to do
With all the faces I would see
In the places I could be
I tried to work out what to play
What to wear and what to say
I never knew what was best
And neither did all the rest
